Day 13 ($0): New York Public Library

leave a comment »

Since I’m on a budget hiatus, I thought I’d write a little note about the New York Public Library system. The Science, Industry and Business Library, SIBL for short, at 34th and Madison, was a discovery I made last month when I had to to look up something in a reference material housed there. SIBL is pretty slick for a library, with blond woods, curves of steel and black granite floors. A lot of donors put money into the building and then said “Dark and musty corners, begone!” The computer terminals look new and the reading areas have Aeron chairs. Add in the decently fast wifi and quiet atmosphere, you’ve got yourself a nice place to get work done. There’s also a busy career center where you can get advice on a job search, if you’re so inclined.
